OUR HISTORY

The foundation of the mining operations belonging to Ökten Group of Companies was laid by the late Hüseyin Ökten in the 1950s. The mining operations started in the Lignite Coal Basin in the Yeniköy region of Istanbul were first realized under the name of Yeniköy Mining Operations.

The roots of Ökten Group of Companies can be traced back to the late Mr. It is based on Hüseyin Ökten's career as a military aircraft pilot and aircraft technician.

However, he later decided to leave his special and sacred duty and returned to the land of his birth, Şanlıurfa Siverek.

Mr. Hüseyin Ökten, who wanted to do something to overcome the electricity shortage in his homeland, came up with the idea of generating electricity from the mill one day and successfully implemented it.

After a while he returned to Istanbul's Yeniköy Ağaçlı Village. Then Mr. Ökten became interested in coal and bought a tractor shovel and started mining coal.

In the conditions of that period, he transported the coal he mined by means of a truck and offered it to the public.

This mining commercial venture started in the 1950s and grew through the efforts of Mr. Hüseyin Ökten.

The eldest son of the late Hüseyin Ökten, our Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Kadir Ökten has also made a great contribution to the spread of mining in a large part of our country after 1976 by developing in the corporate sense with the company Ökten Madencilik Ltd, which he founded, and has been an example for many investors in mining investments until today.

Along with the professionalism applied during all stages of production, from the processing of the raw ore to the final product, it has also enabled us to achieve the indispensable quality understanding in today's conditions by developing the market and sales parameters that will meet the consumer needs in the most accurate way. In addition, our constantly evolving business culture has enabled us to include different business lines in our investment plans and allowed us to become a high-quality institution by becoming a Group Company!
